South Africa’s Garden Route faces a severe crisis, with a 21% unemployment rate trapping many young people in poverty. Substance abuse and early pregnancies further compound the issue. In the 2022/2023 financial year, approximately 150,000 girls aged 10 to 19 fell pregnant, a sharp increase from 90,000 the previous year. At George Hospital alone, there were 400 births to mothers aged 15 to 19 in 2023. Alarmingly, only one-third of these young mothers return to school, exacerbating the cycle of poverty and limiting future prospects.

Hands-Up for Reaching Potential (HURP) offers a comprehensive solution to these pressing issues. Our initiative is designed to empower unemployed youth by providing them with high-quality, accredited education and training in ICT skills, retail, and hospitality. HURP Food Project

At HURP, our dedication to working in marginalized communities has exposed us to the harsh reality of hunger among children. We’ve seen firsthand the impact of kids going to school on an empty stomach, which drives our commitment to ensure they are nourished and ready to learn. Our food parcels are scientifically designed to provide the essential vitamins and minerals needed for children to function optimally every day. With every R1000 raised, we can feed 5 children two meals a day for an entire month. By supporting this effort, you help us ensure that no child has to face hunger, allowing them to thrive and reach their full potential. We are passionate about making sure that every child receives the nutrition they need to succeed
